Mexico Carbon Forum 2025: Tamaulipas as a Leader in Sustainability

The city of Tampico hosted the Mexico Carbon Forum 2025, becoming an international meeting point for climate conversations. The fifth edition of this forum brought together 170 exhibitors and experts from more than 25 nations, along with nearly 3,000 participants. This solidified Tamaulipas' position as a leader in the field of environmental innovation and in the development of carbon markets that are both reliable and transparent.

Academics, business leaders, investors, and international organizations shared their experiences and strategies to combat climate change, enhance global collaboration, and open new avenues for sustainable development. A highlight of the forum was the panel entitled "Innovation in Action: Tamaulipas' Carbon Program for Natural Resource Conservation," in which Earth Carbon's participation was notable.

In this panel, Marcela Ronquillo, CEO of Earth Carbon, stood alongside other experts such as Jim Blackburn, CEO of BCarbon; Christopher Ordóñez, CEO of Nature-based Solutions at Rice University; and Gastón Santos, Director of Operations at Earth Carbon. The presence of these leaders and Earth Carbon's contributions enriched the discussion and underscored the fundamental role of innovative solutions in the conservation of natural resources.

The forum featured Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, who has promoted an environmental agenda that prioritizes the preservation and care of the state's natural resources. Under this vision, Tamaulipas is moving toward a future where economic growth and environmental protection coexist.

At the conclusion of the event, the Secretary of Urban Development and Environment, Karina Lizeth Saldivar Lartigue, emphasized that "a greener, more equitable, and prosperous future is achievable if we collaborate, exchange knowledge, and join forces."

With this edition, the Mexico Carbon Forum establishes Tamaulipas as a connector between Mexico and the world in the fight against the effects of climate change and in creating opportunities for new sustainable investments.
